Trips to the Watzmann, Königssee and the salt mine

Peter Juhre’s suggested trips around Berchtesgaden

Königssee cruise
Cruise over the fjord-like lake, try out the echo and enjoy a hearty Bavarian snack at the pilgrimage church St. Bartholomä.

Hiking with the Ramsau
Explore the Berchtesgadener Land on perfectly marked hiking trails and visit the popular photo motif in the mountaineer village of Ramsau.

Spa town Berchtesgaden
Enjoy the flair of the sophisticated spa town, take a “trip into the salt” and marvel at the historic cathedral with its impressive front gate.
Chiemsee with islands
Royal palace Herrenchiemsee and Benedictine abbey Frauenchiemsee: visit the unique facilities amidst “Bavaria’s sea” with a liner.
Picturesque Hintersee
Walk around the idyllic lake and refresh your feet in the cool mountain water. Or embark on a spectacular mountain hike to the Blaueis glacier.
Saline Berchtesgaden
Go deep into the mountain on the “Grubenhunt” wearing miner’s clothes, stride through very old salt mining tunnels and cross the mystic salt lake on a raft.
Almbachklamm & mill
Visit the historic Kugelmühle mill at the start of the hike to the wildly romantic gorge, then ascend through the forest to the pilgrimage church Ettenberg.
Obersalzberg centre
Ascend by bus to the historic documentation centre Kehlsteinhaus on the Obersalzberg. Fantastic panoramic view all the way to Salzburg.
Rossfeld mountain road
Divine year-round panoramic road with views of the Salzach Valley and the Alps. An enjoyment for bikers and drivers up to 1,600 m above sea level.

Historic city centre with imposing fortification site Hohensalzburg, St. Peter abbey, cathedral, Mozart’s birthplace, and castle park Hellbrunn with zoo.
